Charleston,
SC Info:
While
visiting historic Charleston, you might want to check out
some of these activities:
Downtown
Charleston is filled with great shopping and endless history.
Definitely visit the outdoor Market
on Market Street between King and East Bay Streets.
You won’t go wrong if you stay south of Calhoun Street
and east of King Street. Also take a walk along the Battery
and visit Rainbow Row at the very southern tip of the
downtown Charleston Peninsula. Downtown Charleston offers
some great historical and ghost tours. To get tickets
for these or any other tours, you may visit www.charleston.com or www.charlestonghosts.com, or call (843) 724-6282 for
more information.
Another
great way to see Charleston, as well as Fort Sumter, is
a Harbor Cruise! Spirit Line
is a reputable company with reasonable fees and
can be contacted through www.fortsumtertours.com or by
calling
(800) 789-3678. The Charleston Harbor Resort and
Marina is located next to the USS Yorktown, which offers
daily
tours. You can also tour the H.L. Hunley, sunk
in 1864 defending the Confederacy and raised in August
2000.
Early
October will still be warm enough for beaching in Charleston
and the Charleston Harbor Resort
and Marina is only 15 minutes from two beaches: Isle
of Palms and
Sullivan’s Island. Isle of Palms has a nice stretch
of restaurants, pubs, and shops.
Other
great Charleston attractions are The Citadel and the various
plantations,
particularly Boone Hall in Mt. Pleasant and
Magnolia and Middleton Plantations in West Ashley. Magnolia
Plantation
offers a Swamp Tour with plenty of local gators!
And
last, but not least, don’t forget to check out
the Charleston nightlife with some of the finest restaurants,
taverns, and dancing in the South!
If you have any questions or would like help
planning your trip, please feel free to call
the locals
anytime!
